Consumer Non-Durables sector definition

Non-durable goods are products consumers purchase with the plan to use for a short period of time. Also referred to as consumable goods, most non-durable goods are expected to be consumed or used in three years or less. Because of this basic characteristic, non-durable goods can be a wide variety of products. There are essentially three types of non-durable goods. They may be literally consumed, as with food and drinks. They can also be utilized until they are gone, such as deodorant, toothpaste or dish soap. The third type of non-durable good is a product that is used and no longer needed, intended for one use, or wears out from normal use, such as socks, paper plates and light bulbs.

Consumer Non-Durables sector is composed of 227 companies with a total market capitalization of $2.43 tn

Consumer Non-Durables sector performance

Consumer staples sector ETF closed this week at $60.81 and stepped up a slightly good 1.00%. For 3 weeks in a row, price climbed and marked a profit of 2.62%.

Observing the weekly chart, XLP marked an uptrend of rising tops and rising bottoms. Since its last top late July at $61.02, price slid and bounced up back from $57.35. Not so far away is the last price record Consumer staples sector ETF marked late July. Late January XLP price bounced up over the SMA of 40 weeks that acted as support stopping new slides. Since SMA20d and SMA40w crossed up early October, XLP price climbed $8.54 per share (16.34%).
