SMAs overview

A favorite tool of many traders are the moving averages, that easily show market direction. A moving average is calculated as the simple mean of the previous N periods (usually sessions). Usual time periods used for moving averages are 21 days, 50 days, 100 days and 200 days

Supports and resistances

Traders use supports and resistances to find price points on a chart that tend to behave as obstacles, containing the price of an asset to move up or down. Supports are levels where the price tends to find support as it falls. This means that the price is more likely to "bounce off" this level rather than break through it. Nevertheless, if the price breaks down this level, it will probably continue declining until meeting another support level. In contrast, resistance levels are where the price may find a curb as it moves up. In the same way, the price is more liable to "rebound" at this level, and if it finally crosses this level, the price will climb more easily until it finds the next resistance

Price is at all-time highs and there are not upper resistance levels.

The current supports are:

  • S1: $85.68 (-7.59% below)
  • S2: $82.32 (-11.22% below)
  • S3: $81.20 (-12.42% below)
  • Bollinger bands

This is an indicator that was developed in the 1980s by John Bollinger. Essentially, the Bollinger Bands are bands that fluctuate around a centralmoving average, varying the distance from the bottom to the top depending on market volatility. They are usually drawn by an interval of two standard deviations, above and below, from a moving average line. Bollinger himself recommends the moving average period to be 20

The price is moving near to the upper Bollinger band, indicating some level of overbought in recent sessions. This is not a bearish indicator, as price can move in these levels for many days and weeks

    Relative strength index

The relative strength index (RSI) is a technical indicator used in the analysis of stock markets. Its objective is to map the current and previous weakness or strength of a stock or market based on the closing prices of a recent trading period. Oscillator indicators, such as relative strength, are designed to indicate values in the range of 0-100. J. Welles Wilder introduced the relative strength indicator in 1978 and since then it has been widely used by investors

Relative Strength Indicator crossed up the overbought line yesterday, with a reading of 70.54. Contrary to what many investors may think, the fact that the Relative Strength Indicator (RSI) value is in the overvalued zone does not imply a sell point, as stocks can rally during several weeks being in the overvalued zone
